Identifikasi Potensi Kawasan Berbasis Transit Pada Simpul Transportasi Kereta Api di Pulau Sumatera
Abstract
The application of the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) has the potentiality to reduce private vehicles dependencies and enhance transportation sustainability. The TOD concept aims to create and regenerate urban areas, thus liveability and quality of life could be improved. As stated in the National Railway Master Plan, the construction of the railway in Sumatra that connects the entire island from the north to the south (except Bengkulu province) is going to be commenced. The train station along the railway corridors has the potentiality to be developed as transit nodes. This also means that the station along the railway corridors could be developed using the TOD concept. Therefore, this study aims to identify the area that has the highest possibility to be developed as the TOD District as well as to propose priority areas for development. This study is expected to be the basis for the planning and development of TOD (Transit Oriented Development) at the transit nodes in order to optimize the Government's assets and improve rail transportation services. This research utilizes the multi-criteria TOD Index. The result shows that Medan Station, Padang Station, Ampera Station, and Tanjung Karang Station have the highest potentiality and are recommended to be developed as the TOD District. Those stations are recommended to be developed as the Urban TOD. The development strategy recommendations for those stations are Site-Redevelopment in Medan, Ampera, and Tanjung Karang Station, and Infill-Development in Padang Station.
