Abstract

ABSTRACT

Bulldozers have several important components, one of which is the blade for digging, pushing, transporting, and leveling material. Bulldozer blades come in several types: straight blade (S-Blade), universal blade (U-Blade), semi-universal blade (SU-Blade), angel blade, and power angel tilt blade (PAT-Blade). Common damage to bulldozer blades includes blade deformation, blade cracks, blade wear, blade corrosion, and loose blade joints. The goal of this mitigation is to reduce the risk of bulldozer blades. The Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method was used. The mitigation results indicated a crack in the bulldozer blade with an RPN of 225.

Mitigating actions or proposed improvements include installing sensors to prevent overloading and limiting the load to standard capacity, conducting regular inspections, and welding the cracked area with high-quality welding. Using wear-resistant steel and applying anti-corrosion coatings, and regularly checking the tightness of blade connections can minimize the severity of failure or damage to the bulldozer blade.
