Abstract

Food is a basic human need that involves many factors in its fulfillment. Food security is one of the important pillars in national development because it is directly related to community welfare and socio-economic stability. Three important aspects in food security are food availability, food access, and food utilization. The Association of Women Farmers Groups (KWT) has a strategic role in food security, especially in its role to provide training, mentoring, and knowledge exchange to its members. The capacity building activity for women farmers carried out by the community service team of AKPRIND Indonesia University consisting of 5 (five) personnel from the Chemical Engineering and Statistics study programs focuses on implementing training on making organic fertilizers in order to maintain food availability, processing local soybeans and utilizing soybean dregs into products that have higher economic value in order to meet the aspects of food access and food utilization. The benchmark for the success of the activity can be seen from the number of participants who attended, the growth of several UMKM as applications of the training that had been obtained, as well as ongoing collaboration between Universities (in this case AKPRIND Indonesia University) with partners as one of the stakeholders. The benchmark for the success of the activity could be seen from the number of participants who attended, the questions asked, and the activeness of participants during the lecture (explanation) and practice.
