Abstract

PT Kayan Putra Utama Coal (PT KPUC) is a mining company that holds a Mining Business Permit located in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Where the mining area administratively includes Mulawarman Village. One of the significant negative impacts is the contamination of acid mine drainage which can damage environmental components such as water and soil. Generally, coal mine locations that have great potential as a source of acid mine drainage are mining water storage ponds and sulfide waste material dumps (Waste Dump). Coal mining has the potential to form acid mine drainage because the nature of coal associated with pyrite and acid mine drainage will be greater and will form in an open mining system because of its direct relationship with free air so that it can make it easier to react with air and water, and is influenced by conditions weather. The most economical processing method is Lime Tohor (Calcium Oxide). The amount of lime needed to neutralize acid mine drainage in the Water Pond (398343 m3) is 3.24 tons. How to prevent it is done by encapsulation (Encapsulation). Based on laboratory calculations, the lime requirement was obtained as follows: pH at SWP 5, initial pH = 3.25 and final pH = 7.97 with lime requirement 0.3 gram / liter.
