Kajian Karakteristik Lanskap Budaya Permukiman Indis Kampung Kwarasan Di Kota Magelang
Abstrak
Kampung Kwarasan, located in Magelang City, is one of Thomas Karsten's many architectural and urban planning works across Indonesia. Its contoured topography was utilized by Karsten to design the Kwarasan settlement in a way that maximizes the surrounding views, including views of Mount Sindoro-Sumbing and the Progo River. As a settlement, Kwarasan has a spatial pattern divided into three distinct zones: large, medium, and small residential buildings, with an open field serving as the central area of the settlement. Karsten designed this open field as a representation of the Javanese city concept. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The study aims to understand the spatial planning concept applied by Thomas Karsten in Kampung Kwarasan as a foundation for further exploration of his other works across the country.
