Abstract

About 92% of manganese consumption globally is directly related to the steel industry and the rest is used in non-ferrous applications such as dry cell batteries, dyestuffs and other chemical industries. South Sulawesi Province has manganese resource potential spread across several regions, but no research has been found on manganese potential in Bone District, South Sulawesi Province, where in Tebba Village, Salomekko District, Bone Regency manganese-carrying rock outcrops were found. This study aims to determine ore minerals and associations, determine the texture and paragenesis of manganese deposits. The research methods carried out are sampling, Mineragraphy analysis and XRD.  The ore minerals found are Pyrochorite, Pyrolussite, and Rhodocrosite. For the associated minerals found are: quartz, albit, aragonite, chlorite, arsenopyrite, and chalcopyrite. The texture of manganese deposits is Replacement and Intergrown textures. Paragenesis of manganese deposits i.e. Pyrolusit stage 1 Intergrowt stage 2 Intergrowt. Rhodonite Stage 1 Absent, Stage 2 Replacement. Rhodochrosite Stage 1 Intergrowt, Stage 2 Replacement.
